POUNDING MILL, Va. - Elder Delford Ward, 64, of Pounding Mill, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2004 at his home.
Born in Buchanan County, Va., he was the son of the late Cecil and Lillie Irene Smith Ward. He was a Primitive Baptist Minister and was serving the Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church at Raven, Va., the Miller View Primitive Baptist Church at Lebanon, Va. and the New Garden Primitive Baptist Church at Honaker, Va.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rudolph Ward.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Elsa Madeline (Mattie) Cantrell Ward; one daughter, Nancy Irene Barton of Baltimore, Md.; a son in law, Ronald Barton of Pounding Mill; two sisters, Geneva White of Grundy, Va., Logene Barnette of Front Royal, Va.; three brothers, Ron Keith Ward of Melinta, Ohio, Kemp Ward of Luray, Va., Cecil (J.C.) Ward of Grundy.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, Va. with Elders Garnell Gilbert, Roger Fuller and Jim Duty officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call at the Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff from 6 until 9 p.m. Thursday.
