LCpl. U.S. Marine Corps, {MC2324415}, Vietnam War-LCpl. Cole was killed in action by rocket & artillery fire on 4-27-1968 while serving as a Mortarman {0341} with the H&S Co. of the 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division. LCpl. Cole started his tour of Vietnam on June 26, 1967.

He is the son of Mr. Wayne F. & Mrs. Sadie E. Cole of 7740 Major Avenue, Oak Lawn, Illinois, and is a 1966 graduate of Oak Lawn H.S., and he enlisted with the Marines on 1-5-1967, and he did his training at Camp Pendleton, California.

Awards: Purple Heart Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal with One Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal.
