OBIT: John Patton DOWLER, 1917, Burnside, Clearfield County, PA (per Doug Johnson)
At his home in Burnside on Saturday night, John Patton Dowler, aged about 60 years, died from a self-inflicted gun shot wound, just after his wife had gone upstairs. Mr. Dowler was in apparently good health and spirits. He was in comfortable financial circumstances and no reason can be assigned for the deed. His wife only survives. There are a number of relatives in Altoona and vicinity. The funeral service will be held at his home at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning. Interment at Burnside.
