Obituary
Michael Joseph Costello was born February 2, 1846, in Ballymoe county, Galway, Ireland. In 1866 he came to Utica, New York, where he married Anna Dunn who died five years later. Two children were born to this union. He moved to Oshkosh, Wis., in 1873, and was united in marriage to Alice Thayer, October 15, 1877. To this union five children were born two of whom died in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Costello and family came to Grand Island from Rogers in 1907. After seven years of failing health he died October 12, 1917. His wife and three daughters, Mrs. Joseph Kerlerhofer, of Manitowic, Wis., Mrs. J. Folda, of Schuyler, and Miss Genevieve who resides at home, one son, Martin, of Ord, one sister, Mrs. P. Killigan, of Rogers, and three brothers, John, of Rogers, Martin of Columbus, and P. J. Murphy of Omaha, survive him. He has been employed by the Union Pacific since 1888.

The funeral will be held from St. Mary's Catholic church Monday morning at 9 o'clock. Friends wishing to view the remains may do so at any time prior to the funeral by calling at the residence on West Second street.
