He was a graduate of Stanford University where he earned a Master's degree and taught Portugaese while pursing studies toward His doctrate, he also, attended the University of Utah. He taught Spanish at Purdue University and English at the instituto Cultural Brastil as well as for two years as its director.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with the Rev. Alan Pitt officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
