Steve B. Codner, 70, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on March 5, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born on January 7, 1943, in Hampton, Iowa, to Harry H. and Mary Javotte (Weires) Codner. Steve graduated from Allison-Bristow High School and from Horse Shoeing School in Sperry, Oklahoma. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era in Germany. Steve was a horseshoer for thirty-five years and has been a valet at Prairie Meadows since 1989. He was inducted into the racing hall of fame at Prairie Meadows. Steve enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, gardening, and going to the flea markets at the Iowa State Fair. His passion in life was breeding and raising Old English Sheep dogs. Steve is survived by his wife Linda Codner of Des Moines, son Brad Codner and his sons Cash and Clay of Pleasant Hill, step-children Steven (Jenny) Cross and their sons Dallas and Robert of Urbandale, Rob (Shawn) Cross and their sons Tyler and Tanner of Altoona and Michelle (Terry) Henry and their sons Trevor and Jonathon of Creston, brothers Bob (Kathy) Codner of Urbandale, Mike (Dorothy) Codner of Bristow and Bill (RaeAnn) Codner of Allison, along with many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Javotte and brother Patrick.

Burial will take place in the Allison Cemetery.

Following the burial, a time of luncheon and fellowship will be held at the Amvet Hall in Allison.
