William J Reid: Co. B 2nd Cavalry. He enlisted 18 Jun 1861 at Iredell County, NC. He was a Private age 19, and a farmer. He was wounded and a POW 28 Jul 1862 at Jerry French Place near Bachelor Creek. His arm was amputated and he was in the hospital at New Bern, NC on 28 Jul 1862. Paroled 8 Oct 1862 and Discharged 26 Feb 1863 due to his disability.

1880 North Carolina Census listed William as 38 years old and a disabled farmer and Serena as 32 years old and keeping house. Parents of Jacob S. N. b. 1866 N.C., Mary Ann E. b. 1868 N.C., William Jasper b. June 1870 N.C., James S. b. 1872 N.C., Cass D.E. b. 1874 N.C., Burton b. 1876 N.C., and Hugh b. 1878 N.C.
