Carl "Junior" Pierce Jr., 65, of Alloway Township died Friday in South Jersey Hospital System-Bridgeton. Born in Quinton, son of the late Carl and Lucy (nee Cuff) Pierce, he lived in Alloway for 18 years.
He had been employed as a truck driver with C. Harrell Company in Elmer for more than 20 years, and earlier worked at Mannington Mills in Salem County. He was a member of Bethany Christian Church, the Lenni-Lenape Indian Tribe and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He liked to fish and camp.
Surviving are his wife, Christina (nee Cuff) Pierce; a daughter, Lisa Brown of Clayton; a step-daughter, Joanne Lockman of Hopewell Township; a step-son, Joseph Pierce of Fairfield Township; two brothers, Alvin of Greenwich Township and Gary of Florida; ten sisters, Alice Johnson of Pennsgrove, Donna Mosley of Deerfield, Mary Manigan of West Virginia, Christina Bard of Deerfield Township, Dolores Jorden of Pittsgrove Township, Shirley Williams of Shiloh, Isabelle Vasquaz of Deerfield Township, Marie Shaffer of Fairfield Township, Dorothy Mosley of Salem, and Carol Colburn of Millville; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be held at noon Wednesday in the Padgett Funeral Home, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Burial will be in Fernwood Memorial Park, Hopewell Township.
