She was born on May 1, 1918 in Taftville to the late August and Emma (Bradlaw) Krodel. On June 12, 1937 she married her beloved husband Clarence "Sam" Raymond who predeceased her in 1996. She was also predeceased by her loving companion Edward Gustuvson in 2004.
Mae worked for various periods of time in her life at Ponemah Mills, Parke Davis and finally at Federal Paperboard in Versailles from where she retired.
Her primary importance in life however was her family and caring for them. She was a fantastic cook and cared for everyone she met without ever prejudging them. She accepted everyone and that legacy was passed on to her children.
Later in life she would travel with her daughter and daughters-in-law who were affectionately called "the golden girls". At age 86, Mae parasailed while on a trip in Mexico. She was fearless and adventurous right to the end.
She is survived by one daughter; Beverly and her husband Peter Herstein, her sons; Ronald and his wife Mae "Jr", Dennis and his wife Darleen, a brother; Robert and his wife Elizabeth Krodel, one sister; Constance and her husband "Smitty" Smith, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Friday, Febraury 22nd from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the Funeral Service at noon at Church & Allen Funeral home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich, CT. Interment will immediately follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Norwich.
