Dennis was a police officer with the Kitsap County Sheriff's Department in Port Orchard, Washington. He died while in the line of duty near East Bremerton, when he stopped to assist what appeared to be a stranded motorist. Deputy Allred had served with the Kitsap County Sheriff's Department for several years, and is survived by his daughter. In 1998, he was a posthumous recipient of the Medal of Honor given by the State of Washington.
