Homer, Ill., July 28.—Mrs. Barbara Sharp died at 11 o’clock last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Erastus Carter the cause of her death being heart trouble, from which she had suffered several years. The funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the First m. E. church, Rev. J. P. Edgar, the pastor, officiating. Burial will be at G. A. R. cemetery. Mrs. Sharp was born July 25, 1838, at Carmel, Ind. She was married at that place in 1856 to John Sharp. To this union two children, Frank Sharp and Mrs. Erastus Carter, both surviving her, were born.
In 1865 they moved to Illinois and have lived in the vicinity of Homer since that time. Ten years ago they moved to Homer, where two years later her husband died. Mrs. Sharp was a lifelong member of the M. E. church. (transcribed by Homer Historical Society)
