Charlie N. Swords, 90, retired farmer, died March 28, 2003 at Graceland Nursing Home in New Albany.

Services were at Mortimer Funeral Home with burial in Ecru Cemetery.

He was a member of Horton Memorial Baptist Church.

Mr. Swords, the widower of Letta Bell Denton Swords, leaves a daughter, Margaret Mayo of Hurricane; four sons, James H. 'Hub' Swords and Rev. Charlie K. Swords, both of Ecru, Kenneth Swords of Lexington, Ky., and Sherman L. 'Joe' Swords of Randolph; two stepsons, W. F. 'Jack' Merritt of Pontotoc and Dean Merritt of Tupelo; a sister, Mary Pitts of Memphis, 22 grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 14 stepgreat-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and 18 stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
