SCAFFOLDING PROVES FRAIL
Gives Way and Results in One Fatality
About (illegible) o'clock yesterday afternoon, the Messrs. Bradford Ellis and L. P. Cowell, carpenters, were at work on a scaffolding along the Pine street front of the new Yost Lumber Co. buildings, the scaffolding gave way. One of the boards, it appears, was wrenched by the weight upon it from the support to which it was nailed and both men dropped to the brick walk, about twelve feet below.
Unfortunately for Mr. Ellis, so as can be learned, he first tripped of was swayed by another board backward, and appears to have first stuck the walk with his head, the injuries being of so serious a nature that he died from them at about (illegible) o'clock this morning. Mr. Cowell was only bruised badly about the hip, no fractures being sustained.
Mr. Ellis leaves a wife and three (sic) grown children, Edith, who resides at Moline, Ill, and Glen, who is married and lives in this city.
