She was born April 24, 1907, in Carroll County, Va., to the late Toby and Mary Thompson Branscome.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and of the Primitive Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey T. Smith.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Sue Chapman and husband Fred of Pilot Mountain;
grandchildren, James Gray Pell of Pilot Mountain and Timothy Smith Pell of Springfield, Mo.; six great-grandchildren;
sisters, Louise DeHaven of Hillsville, Va., Hassie Jackson of Laurel Fork, Va., and Edith Alderman of Hillsville.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Howell-Nelson Funeral Chapel of Pilot Mountain, with the Rev. Jerry Pardue officiating.
Interment will follow at Pilot Mountain City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 29, at Howell-Nelson Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Mrs. Claudine Smith who faithfully and lovingly took care of our mother for many years.
