Carey Jane Cromer, Abingdon Chapel age 66 of Loxley, Alabama and formerly of Galesburg, died at 7:33 am Monday, March 4, 2013 in Loxley.
She was born September 13, 1946 in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph P. and Betty (Dykeman) Cromer.
Carey is survived by two sons, John (April) Cromer of Wataga and Tim (Kano) Runquist of Okinawa, Japan; one daughter, Lynda (Larry) Weappa of Loxley, Alabama; eleven grandchildren, Zackary, Jaci, Brendon, Kylee, Jeanell, Tiffany, Carli, Cindy, Alex, Jacob, and Nicholas; six great-grandchildren; her mother, Betty Killip of Galesburg; two brothers, Tony Killip of Wataga and Danny Killip of Bucksport, Maine; and two sisters, Amy Damm of Aledo and Sherry Sackett of the state of Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her father, one son, Alan Gordon and her stepfather, Dale Killip.
She grew up in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1964. She lived in Abingdon and Galesburg before moving to Loxley to be cared for by her family. She worked at Maytag in Galesburg for 30 years before retiring. She was a member of American Legion Post #285 Auxiliary in Galesburg, the Golden Sneakers Club in Galesburg and the YMCA. Her hobbies included spoiling her kids and grandkids, fishing, dancing and gardening.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will follow in the Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday at the chapel.
