Obituary for Virgil Gott (Lebanon)

Virgil Gott, son of James F. and Girthy Viola Dill Gott, was born February 2, 1917, near Buffalo, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, February 24, 2013, in Buffalo Prairie Care Center, in Buffalo, Missouri, at the age of ninety-six years, and twenty-two days.

He was preceded in death his parents; seven brothers, Lloyd, Jess, Bill, Kenneth, Velores, Cecil, and Clarence; and three sisters, Florence, Clara, and Dollie.

He was born and raised in the Buffalo and Green Mountain area. He then made his home in the Buffalo and Conway area for several years, before moving to California. In his younger years, he Married Lurene Sullivan in around 1938 and had a daughter named Norma L Gott , he was a Golden Glove boxer and also did acrobatics and was a stunt man for Rex Allen for a few years. He then made his home in Iowa and Illinois, before returning to the home area near Buffalo.

Throughout the years, he had worked in auto body repair and as a bulldozer operator.

Virgil had made his profession of belief in Christ and followed the Baptist faith.

In his spare time he was a great hunter and particularly liked hunting for coon, rabbit, and deer. He also enjoyed fishing and showing horses. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed all of his grandchildren.

Virgil was loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his long life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
