DROWNS WHILE FISHING

VICTOR CADLE FALLS FROM DOCK INTO SOUND

Walter M. Pode Rescued From Lake by Brother When Wind Overturns Sailboat.

One man drowned in Puget sound yesterday and another narrowly escaped death in Lake Washington when his sailboat upset in a high wind.

While fishing off Endolyne dock, at the end of the Fauntleroy car line, Victor B. Cadle, 26 years old, 7732 18th Ave S. W., fell from the dock and was drowned yesterday afternoon. His body was recovered late this morning by Diver Leroy Mills, working off the City Harbor Patrol launch No. 1.

Cadle was fishing with his mother and two brothers, Eugene and Bert, who were unable to assist him.

Quick action of the part of his brother, Sven Pode, 17 years old, saved the life of Walter M. Pode, 32 years old, when his sailboat capsized off Leschi Park. Sven, at his home, 1401 Madrona Drive, heard the cries of hundreds of spectators, who lined the shore, commandeered a rowboat, and went to the rescue, arriving just as his brother was losing his hold on the overturned craft.
