One of twelve children, Nora was the daughter and youngest child of William Martin and Carolyn/Caroline Behymer Martin of Richland County, Illinois.

She was the granddaughter of James and Nancy Martin of Ripley County, Indiana and of John Lewis Behymer and Jane (Meeker) Behymer.

She was the great-granddaughter of Nathaniel Behymer (1773-1860) and Magdalena Behymer (1777-1815). (The surname was also spelled as "Beckelhymer".)

Her parents relocated to Richland County, Illinois from Ripley Co, Indiana circa 1865, after the deaths of her Martin grandparents in Ripley County, Indiana.

Nora married William Marion Carver on 3 Jul 1900 in Richland Co, Illinois.

She was the mother of Marion L. Carver, Helen Jennet Carver Johnston and Edna Carver.

According to the cemetery office, there is no headstone for Nora, but she is buried beside her husband who does have a marker.
