Lillie's parents are Stephen/Steven David Arthur and Elizabeth B. 'Lizzie' GOODWIN. Lillie was still single on the 1900 census, age 14, living with her parents and siblings in Gregg, Aiken, South Carolina.

The 1910 census indicates they were married 7 years and she had 3 children, 3 living - Gladys Ruth, Lois Elizabeth and John William. They would have five more known sons and one daughter, Lillie Grace who first married George Alexander and then Henry Busbee.

Obituary: AUGUSTA CHRONICLE,20 January 1926, p. 3

"Aiken, S.C., Jan. 19. - Mrs. Lillie E. Posey, wife of John M. Posey, died at the home in Graniteville Monday [18 Jan] night following a lengthy illness, in her fortieth year. She is survived other than her husband by three daughters and six sons. Her daughters are: Mrs. James H. Ellis, Maysboro, Ga., Mrs. L. L. Johnston, Asheville, N.C., and Miss Grace Posey, Graniteville. Her sons: Messrs. John, David, Preston, Paul, Thomas and Dudly Posey. Two step sons, Messrs. Edward Posey, Daytona, Fla., and Joseph Posey, Ward, S.C. Two [step] daughters, Mrs. B. F. Etheredge, Aiken, and Mrs. Alice Hatcher, Warrenville. Her parents also survive, Mr. and Mrs. David Arthur, Aiken, S.C., together with two brothers and four sisters."
