John Harold Schaffer, 95, of Fort Meyers, Florida, a former Amberg, WI resident, died Monday, Feb. 20 at Southwest Regional Hospital there. He was born on Dec. 7, 1910 in Wellman, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur (Laura Frye) Schaffer.
He married the former Irene M. Wilson on Feb. 19, 1938 in Iron Mountain, Mi.
He operated a dairy and beef farm for many years, then worked as a stonemason at a local quarry and retired from the Goodman Lumber Company.
Survivors include two daughters: Mrs. Arthur (Shirley) Edlebeck of Ft. Myers, Florida and Nancy Jo (Charles) Howarth of Nixon, Montana;
10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren;
three sisters, Helen Moe of Beloit, WI; Mrs. Andy (Velda) Wontor of Amberg, WI and Irene Pier of Wausaukee, WI.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; his parents and two brothers, Albert and Merle.
A graveside service will be held in the Spring at the Amberg Cemetery.
