Mrs. Rachel Snyder Hatcher, 78, of 218 West Locust Drive, Beckley, died Saturday, July 23, 1994, in a Beckley hospital following a short illness. Born April 19, 1916, at Mt. Hope. She was a retired school teacher for the Raleigh County school system having taught at Woodrow Wilson High School, Sophia High School, Mark Twain High School and Beckley College. Prior to teaching, she was employed with the new river Company in mt. Hope and was a member of the United Methodist Temple, Beckley. She was preceded in death by a sister, Gertrude Darby. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Robert Hatcher of Beckley, and two sisters, Margaret Snyder Lynch of Beckley and Alice Adair Smith of Melbourne, Fla. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum B, Beckley with Rev. Frank E. Bourner officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Beckley. There will be no visitation. Donations of sympathy may be made to the United Methodist Temple, Drawer AQ. Beckley, WV 25802. Arrangements by Calfee Funeral Home, Beckley.
