Dudley was born on March 31, 1925, in Joplin, the son of the late Roy and Nancy Chew. He was a pastor of three churches in the Carl Junction and Carthage area, also, churches in California, Oregon and Kansas. He currently was the pastor of the Gospel Lighthouse in Carl Junction, Mo. He also served as the assistant chief of police for the City of Carterville.
He married Lenora Riley on Aug. 22, 1943, in Columbus, Kan. He was a devoted and loving father and husband.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lenora Chew, Joplin; six sons, Raymond Chew, Joplin, Dudley Chew Jr., Sacramento, Calif., Frank Chew, Joplin, Terry Chew, Kansas City, Mo., Jeff Chew, Sacramento, Calif. and John Chew, Carthage, Mo.; five daughters, Barbara Mullins, Manteca, Calif., Susan Edwards, Sacramento, Calif., Jean Evans, Carterville, Mo., Kendra Chew, Grandfalls, Mont., and Samantha Hawkins, Joplin; one sister, Betty Cox, state of Florida; 32 grandchildren; and 65 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Danny and Sammy Chew; one daughter, Donna Bedsaul; and four brothers, Jack, Claude, John and Leroy Chew. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Rev. Morris Cleveland will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. The pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
