Born to John (aka George) and Louisa nee Mifflin Bromfield. He was born fourth of five children and raised in Churchstanton Devonshire England. At the age of 25 years old, Henry arrived in the United States on the Alaska; 21 Apr 1890.

Henry set sail from Liverpool, England to New York with his wife Clara Berry and their two young sons George Henry and Frederick James as well as his parents and his sister Mary Maria and her husband, William O. Davies. Henry's brothers Thomas and Samuel were already in the US for several years. It is believed by this author that his eldest brother John Edward never came to the United States.

Henry and his family settled in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania. He was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Wilkes-Barre. And it is there where he raised his children and worked as a mason.

He was proceeded in death by his father who died in 1892, his mother who died in 1898 and brother John Edward who died in 1901 in Tavistock, England. Henry is survived by his wife and six chidren; George Henry, Fredrick James, Mrs. Mabel Emily Frank, Thomas Raymond, Harry W. and Nellie Louisa, as well as his three above mentioned siblings.

Henry is buried at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Hanover, Pennsylvania.

A memorial was posted in the Wilkes-Barre paper a year after his death:

"In loving memory of Harry W. Bromfield, who left us one year ago to-day, October 1, 1928. Loving thoughts, true and tender, just to show we still remember. Wife and Children."
