Alice Martha Herkimer

(April 18, 1917 - February 27, 2013)

Mrs. Herkimer passed on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the age of 95 surrounded by her loving family. Alice was born April 18, 1917 in Belleville, Michigan to the late Elmer and Helen (Richardson) Riggs.

Alice is survived by three daughters; Marilyn (Bill) Watson of Potterville, Michigan, Joanne (Mark) Williams of Colardo Springs, Colorado, and Debra (Paul) Cartwright of Belleville, Michigan; Ten grandchildren, and thirteen great-grand children.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Henry Herkimer, second husband Chauncey Schweigert, daughter Janet Loria, three brothers; Albert Riggs, Lloyd Riggs, Emerson Riggs, and her sister Francis Genevieve Riggs.

Alice was a life long resident of Belleville. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Alice's greatest joy involved being around her family and many friends. Some of her hobbies were doing crafts, traveling, and gardening. She was avid Detroit Tigers fan never missing a game.

Mrs. Herkimer's family will receive guests on Friday from 2-8 PM. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 10 AM in the David C. Brown Temporary Viewing Chapel. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Donations in Alice's memory may be made to Angela Hospice or Belleville First United Methodist Church.
