Edna Lucile Wehrly, 97, 311 W. 12th St., Portland, died late Saturday evening at her home.
Born in Jay County on Oct. 15, 1906 to Jacob and Mona (Frasier) Cummins, she married Keith E. Wehrly on Dec. 2, 1927. He died Feb. 24, 1981.
She had worked for Hunts Studio, Portland; Bimel Spoke and Wheel, Portland; Farm Bureau; Jay County Records Office; and the county agent office.
A member of the West Walnut Street Church of Christ for 80 years, she a Sunday school teacher; served on the county election board; Psi Iota Sorority; 8/40 past president; American Legion Auxiliary; and a 70 year member of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are two sons, David Wehrly, Fort Wayne, and John Werhly, Detroit, Mich.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland, with Pastor Paul Strouse presiding. Burial will follow in Salamonia Cemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the West Walnut Street Church of Christ or State of the Heart Home Health Hospice.
