Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Augustus Ward; her parents, Drunella and Bailey Price; brothers Robert Bailey Price, Jr., John Redden Price, and James Douglas Price; and sisters Kathleen Price Kean, Mary Price Pearson, and Joan Price.
She is survived by two sisters, Mildred Price Smith and Ruth Price Conway; two sons, William Augustus Ward (Penne) and Albert Price Ward (Beverly); three daughters, Mary Aurelia Elliott (Carl), Martina Ann Holt (Tony); and Loretta Carol Schmidt; 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Lillian was born on December 3, 1916, in Clarke County, Mississippi. After graduation from high school, she left her home in the depths of the Great Depression to enter nurses' training at Anderson's Hospital in Meridian. After training, she married Gus Ward, whom she had met at the Highland Park swimming pool in Meridian. Together they raised five children in a marriage that lasted 38 years until Gus' death in 1976. Lillian lived a life of loving and caring for others—her parents, her brothers and sisters, her children and grandchildren, and many patients fortunate to have been in her care. Her loved ones will cherish her memory and her example of selflessness, but they will be comforted that she now rests in the arms of her Savior and is reunited with her beloved husband Gus.
Pallbearers will be her seven grandsons and Melvin Barnette, friend of the family.
