Willis G. Adkins, 85, of Gowrie, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday, March 1, 2013 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Farnhamville, with Pastor Robert Zellmer officiating. Burial will be in Gowrie Township Cemetery, Gowrie. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at the church. Palmer and Sons Funeral Home in Gowrie is serving the family.

He is survived by his wife Elberta of Gowrie; son, Dean Adkins and his wife Marlys of Clare; daughters, Mary Lou Hartwig and her husband Mark of Elgin, IL; Elaine Fillman and her husband Craig of Paton; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Edna Lape of Traer and formerly of Gowrie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fayne and Irene (Wood) Adkins, an infant brother, Darwin, and a brother, Harold Adkins.

Willis G. Adkins was born on November 5, 1927, in Rippey, IA. He was raised and educated in Rippey. On June 8, 1949, he was united in marriage to Elberta Licht at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Deer Creek Township. Willis farmed until 1956, and then he began his employment with Franklin Manufacturing in parts production for 21 years. He retired in 1987. Willis was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran of Farnhamville and also a member of the over 60 Club.
