C Q Adamson, one of the oldest and best known retail merchants of Atlanta, died yesterday morning at his residence, 339 Hill street.
The deceased was 79 years of age. He was a native of Henry county and came to Atlanta in 1847. He was in active business until about four years ago, when he was compelled to retire on account of ill health. He had many firends, who sympathize with the bereaved relatives. The deceased is survived by four children as follows: C. Q. Adamson, Jr., W. B. Adamson, Mrs. C. C. Crim and Miss Gertrude Adamson.
Funeral services will be conducted at the residence this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by Rev. R. O. B. England, pastor of St. Pal Methodist church. The interment will be in Oakland cemetery.
