Alois Metzger


Funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock Monday afternoon at Immanuel Lutheran church, Farming Township, for Alois Metzger, 65, who died at the University of Minnesota Hospital on Thursday, June 10, following surgery. Mr. Metzger was born in St. Cloud on May 14, 1906, the son of the late John and Katherine Metzger. On May 1, 1928 he married Susan Helen Lemke at the Farming Township church


Surviving are his widow, seven sons, Earl of Bowlus, James of Kennewick, Washington, Gerald of Hastings, Dennis of Hastings, Everett of St. Paul, Linus of Albany and Andrew of Roseville. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and the following brothers and sister, Arthur of Greenwald, Gus of Westmoukt, IL., and Mrs. Irene Curnley of Fort Worth, Texas.


Mr. Metzer farmed in the Albany area throughout his life.


Rev. William Schultz officiated at the funeral service.


Pallbearers were Howard Lemke, Erhardt Lemke, Ralph Zimmermann, Raymond Lemke, Junior Jopp and Marvin Jopp.


Interment was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Marriage: The marriage took place on June 1, 1928 in the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. Heinrich Nauss officiated the ceremony. The witnesses were Emil Radtke and Selma Christen.
