Myron "Mike" Kruger, 81, of North Sioux City died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Myron was born on Aug. 2, 1931, in Lyon County, Iowa, the son of Maynard and Martha Kruger.

He married Violet Bradshaw on Oct. 16, 1976 in Elk Point, S.D. They made their home near Salix, Iowa, at Browns Lake. Myron worked construction for Jensen Construction. He later worked for more than 16 years at Concrete Specialty Inc. Myron and Violet traveled around the country for his construction work. After his retirement in 2006, they moved to North Sioux City.

He enjoyed being outdoors working in his garden and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Violet of North Sioux City; two stepsons, Earl and Luann Derochie of North Sioux City, and Rod Derochie of North Sioux City; three grandchildren, Rick and Carol Houck of Sioux Falls, S.D., Jason and Dawn Derochie of Orange City, Iowa, and Rusty and Rachael Montange of North Sioux City; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild

He is preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Richard Derochie; and stepdaughter, Marty Selvan.
