Edwin served as a Sergeant, Company A, 6th Armored Infantry, 1st Armored Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Somerset County, Maryland and was a member of the Maryland National Guard prior to the war.

His National Guard unit was called into full time active Army service on February 3, 1941, prior to the war, from Crisfield, Maryland. He was noted, at that time, as being employed as a routemen and also as Single, without dependents.

Edwin "Died Of Wounds" received in action during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.
