PIONEER WOMAN IS LAID TO REST AT SUMMERVILLE TODAY
Mrs. Margaret McDonald lived to Ripe Old Age of 89; Was Long A Resident of County
The funeral of Mrs. Margaret R. McDonald of Summerville was held this morning. Services were held at the McDonald home in Summerville, interment being made in the Summerville Cemetery. Mrs. McDonald was one of the pioneers of the Grande Ronde valley and died Saturday morning.
She was married to Hiram McDonald in Sullivan county on June 29, 1856, her husband passing away in the year 1912. They moved to Summerville in the year 1875 and the family has lived there ever since. Eight children were born to them, several of whom survive.

George McDonald's threshing crew has been laid off for a few days on account of the death of his mother, Mrs. McDonald, whose home was on Pumpkin Ridge.

Early Saturday morning, at her beautiful home on Pumpkin Ridge, Margaret Taylor McDonald departed this life. Mrs. McDonald was born in 1831 in Missouri, being at the time of her death 89 years 11 months and 1 day old. She was marred to Hiram McDonald, who died January 12, 1912. In her early life and (indecipherable) 12, 1912. To this union were born nine children, five of whom survive her. Mr. and Mrs. McDonald crossed the plain in ‘64 by ox team and settled in the Willamette Valley, where they lived for seven years. They came to the Grande Ronde Valley in ‘71 and had since resided where she lived at the time of her death. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Smith of La Grande at the home, and the body was laid to rest in the Summerville cemetery.
