Son of William Preston and Daisy Jane Day Stidham. His father died in Knott Co. KY sometime after 1876, and his mother in Chandler, Lincoln Co. OK, 12 April 1917. Granville Pearl Stidham married Laura Alice Caskey in Kentucky about 1896. A large number of Kentucky Stidhams moved to Oklahoma between 1912 and 1920, and Pearl's wife died in Lincoln Co. OK in 1920. Sometime after that Pearl and their nine children moved to California.

Starting with the oldest, the children are Mattie, Harry, William, Charles Thomas, Maggie Ester, ella Frances, Dennie Harding, Stanley Lee, and Pearly Golden. The last died at the age of two, and is buried in Lincoln Co. Oklahoma beside her mother.
