William H. Blankenship, 95, retired businessman of LaFollette, died Tuesday morning, May 16 at Baptist Hospital, Knoxville.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, a fifty year member of Masonic Lodge No. 623 F&AM and a Tenessee Colonel. He was owner/operator of Service Dry Cleaners from 1921 to 1956.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie Ely Blankenship; sons, Edd Blankenship of LaFollette, Lee Blankenship, Ruskin, Fla., William E. Blankenship of Knoxville; daughter, Mrs. Jim (Ina Lu) Cobb of Morristown.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and five sons, including Elbert Blankenship of Palatki, Fla., and Sterling Blankenship of Wauregan, Conn; there are nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held last Thursday, May 18 at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of LaFollette by the Rev. Harlan Reynolds. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Walter's Funeral Home, LaFollette, was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Tennessee Baptist Children's Home through the First Baptist Church, LaFollette.
