Ronald M. "Ronnie" Cloninger, 49, 5106 Old Still Lane, died Nov. 2, 2003, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 17, 1954, son of Shirley L. Cloninger and the late Alvin B. Cloninger.
Funeral held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Faith United Methodist Church
Burial held at Gaston Memorial Park
He was a 1972 graduate of Ashbrook High School. He was the first and youngest police cadet in the history of the city of Gastonia Police Department having joined the force at age 18 and later served as dispatcher, a past member of the Gaston Life Saving Crew, a former employee of Ward Funeral Home in Gastonia having served as an ambulance driver, a past member of the Ranlo Volunteer Fire Department, a former member of the Ranlo Police Department having attained rank of sergeant, served over 10 years as a security officer at Gaston Memorial Hospital and was currently serving as dispatcher for the North Carolina Highway Patrol stationed at Troop H in Monroe.
