G.W. Aylor was a Brakeman for the Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis Railway. His wife, Effie, died in 1918, only 5 days after the birth of their fourth son. Just 4 months later, in 1919, George was shot and killed in Martin, Tennessee by Jim Wilson, a pool hall operator and son of former postmaster of Martin, Hall Wilson. In 1921, while still under sentence in Weakley County for Aylor's shooting, Wilson was shot and killed on the street in Cairo, Illinois by a man he had a previous dispute with. (Information obtained from The Nashville Tennessean Newspaper, Dec.8,1921). G.W's sons were raised by his sister, Willie Pearl Aylor.
