Henry Fletcher b. 1 Mar. 1850 d. 21 Aug. 1935 he m. three times

Henry J. Starbuck is said to have stowed away on a whaler from Nantucket in the Azores when he was about 10, the Captain made him a cabin boy and later adopted him. [as of May 2017 no evidence found of his age, nor of adoption. Boys did all kinds of work on whalers.]
Some say he could have actually been a son of the Captain from a previous trip to the island.
Henry later became a Captain and skippered the ships "Franklin" and "Daniel Webster" out of Nantucket. [Decline in whaling left many Nantucket mariners without demand for their work and many left the island seeking other prospects. Henry and his brother-in-law, Manuel Enas, were listed as passengers on the ship Martha in San Francisco harbor in January 1850, as part of of the gold rush. That venture must have proved unsuccessful since he returned to Nantucket and served as captain of the "Daniel Webster" for another voyage, 1852-1856.]
He married Abby Gould Bourden of Nantucket, they had two [four] children.
They moved to East Bridgewater, Massachusetts about 1859/1860 and were listed there in the censuses of 1860, 1870, and 1880.
In an 1879 map they are shown living at the junction of what is now Route 14, Whitman, MA and Harvard St. East Bridgewater.
Henry & Abby are buried in the Northville Cemetery on Oak Street in East Bridgewater, MA.
