He was born in Gail, Tex., on May 5, 1917 to Jesse Sim and Lidya Marley. He moved to Arizona in January 1947 to work at the copper mines, from which he eventually retired. He entered the U.S. Army in January 1942 at La Mesa, Tex. Following stateside assignments in California, Texas, Tennessee and Michigan, he was shipped to the European Theater of Operations. He served in Germany, France and Luxembourg, and saw action i n the Battle of the Bulge. He was a messenger on the front lines, and served in an Anti-Aircraft Balloon Barrage Unit. He was also a Military Policeman in Florence, Az. Private First Class Marley was discharged in December 1945 at San Antonio, Te. He married Helen M. Bolch and they raised three sons, Jesse G. Ralph D. and Charles W.
