Marguerite Lear Pierce Boatman passed from this life on Saturday, May 31, 2008.
She was born on April 17, 1920, the daughter of Benjamin Harrison Pierce and Lear Tempa Greenway Pierce in Temple, Texas. Marguerite married Donald Eugene Boatman in 1947 who preceded her in death. They were both employed by the U. S. State Department and lived three years in Paris, France. Upon returning to the states, they lived in Satellite Beach, Florida where she was employed by RCA Corporation for over 35 years. She returned to Batesville in 1997 and lived at Wildewood Independent Living Center and was a member of Central Avenue United Methodist Church.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and step-mother, Lorene Jett Pierce; a sister, Beryl Pierce Gennings; two brothers, B. H. Pierce, Jr. and Greenway Pierce all of Batesville; a step sister, Mary Augusta Jett Rumph of El Dorado, Arkansas.
She is survived by a step-brother, Bill Jett of Batesville, five nieces: Anne Gennings Hansen of Sacramento, CA; Nancy Gennings Parker of Raleigh-Durham, NC; Helen Gennings Musgrave of Batesville; Mary Pierce-Norton of Nashville, TN; Cathy Pierce Thomason of Conway; two nephews, Mike Gennings of Atlanta, GA and Buddy Pierce of Durant, OK.
Though she had no children of her own, she treated her nieces and nephews as if they were hers.
Honorary pallbearers include Annetta Prince, Donald Heddon, Judge John Norman Harkey, Willie Mae Sheffield, Jimmy Hughes, Robert D. Stroud, Dr. J. R. Baker, Dr. Bill Waldrip and Dr. David Boike.
There will be no visitation.
