Services for former Memphian Will Be Held Monday
Services for Mrs. Melvin Holland Sr., of Fontana Calif., who died unexpectedly Tuesday following extraction of 13 teeth, will be at 10 a.m., Monday at Bibleway Assembly Church at 1615 Roosevelt Road. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Gardens with National Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Holland, the 27-year-old mother of three children, was the former Miss Joyce Rebecca Johnston, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Dexter Johnston Sr., of 6637 Prospect. She was born in Bogota, Tenn., and reared in the Frayser community.
The Holland family moved to California nine months ago.
In addition to her parents and husband, she leaves a son, Melvin Holland Jr., and two daughters, Rebecca Ann Rook and Lelia Rook; one sister, Mrs. Luther Thweatt of Memphis; four brothers, W. Dexter Johnston Jr., Parvin Johnston, Dennis Johnston and Murphy Johnston, All of Memphis and a Maternal grandmother, Mrs. Lulu Phillips of Dyersburg, Tenn.
