Spurgeon Morgan, 57, a life-long resident of West Texas and a farmer and stockman here since January 1, 1952, died at his home in Wellington about 8:30 a.m. Monday, December 13. He had been in ill health several months.
Mr. Morgan was a native of Paducah, where he was born February 28, 1908. He moved to Shamrock with his parents in 1919 and lived there until he came to Wellington.
He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the First Baptist church.
On September 19, 1946, he was married to Miss Eula Burke at Shamrock. After moving to Wellington, they lived for a number of years on their farm near Wellington, but several years ago they moved into town.
Mr. Morgan is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eula Mae Morgan of Wellington; one son, William Bryan Morgan of Morgan City, LA; two sisters, Mrs. Winnie Leggitt and Mrs. Bonnie Eoff of Shamrock; four brothers, duke Morgan, Henry Morgan and Neylong Morgan of Shamrock and Bryan Morgan of Houston. There are three grandchildren.
