Originally buried in Girod Street Cemetery (Defunct) which was closed in 1957. There was a large mixture of whites and blacks (slave and freedmen) in Girod. When the people were reenterred the whites went to Hope Mausoleum and the blacks to Providence Memorial Park. The former Girod Street Cemetery location is the current resting place of the parking garage for the New Orleans Centre shopping mall. (see Wikipedia)
