Aradine Sherwood married Floyd E. Ard, Jr., on 16 November 1933 at Wichita Falls, Texas. That year, the couple moved to Olney where he entered the oil business. His first venture was in an oil well having a daily potential of 15 barrels of oil. Mr. Ard purchased his first rotary rig in 1945. They moved to Abilene in 1947 from Olney doing strictly contracting work, but later he became a producer.
Floyd Earl Ard, Jr, 54, was a prominent Abilene oilman and talented musician. Services were held at St. Paul's Methodist Church officiated by the pastor, Dr. Frank D. Charlton. Mr. Ard was a member of the Methodist Church.
Floyd Earl Ard, Jr was the president of Ard Drilling Company, an oil contracting and producing firm operating mainly in West Texas where he had considerable holdings. He was raised in Wichita Falls where he was a piano pupil of Ernest Katz. At the age of 16, Mr. Ard went to Vienna, Austria where he studied under Emil Von Sauer who took only very talented students. Sauer himself had been a pupil of Franz Liszt. After returning to the U.S., Mr. Ard gave concerts in many large cities.
Survived by his wife; two sons - Julian Ard and Ivan Ard; three daughters - Marsha Ard, Stefanie Ard and Elisa Ard; one sister - Mrs. T.G. Brown; his mother - Mrs. Floyd Ard, Sr.
