The son of David Miller & Rachel (Miller) Blauch, in 1860 he was a laborer living with his family in North Annville Township, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. A Civil War veteran, he enlisted and mustered into state service at Harrisburg June 27, 1863, overstating his age by three years, as a private with Co. A, 1st Pennsylvania (Ramsey's) Battalion, and honorably discharged with his company January 9, 1864. He is on the roster as "John A. Blouch" and applied for his pension under that name. While his pension file does occasionally refer to him as "Adam," I recall no time in which it mentions the name "Adam E. Blauch," although my reading was not exhaustive. Further, he is in the 1850 census as "John Blauch" although as "Adam Blauch" in the 1860 - 1880 censuses. There is no doubt that this is the same man. He married Catherine "Kate" Stuckey June 20, 1867, at Annville, Lebanon County, and fathered Harvey W. (b. 12/26/67), John A. (b. 05/04/70), David Stuckey (b. 12/24/72).
