Mrs. Catharine Schenk Dead.
Mrs. Catharine Schenk died last Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Mason, east of town of cancer of the face. Mrs. Schenk had been a sufferer for two years and death came as a relief to her.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at Pleasant Prairie church northwest of Bethel and she was laid to rest in Pleasant Prairie cemetery.
Mrs. Schenk was born in Woodsfield, Monroe county, Ia. (sic), June 15, 1831. She was first married to Geo. McCammon and to this union 10 children were born, 7 of whom survive her—Mrs. Susan Bolles, Mrs. A. L. Mason, Mrs. Frank Mason, and Dora McCammon of this county; Mrs. A. S. Yoe of Belmont, Ohio, Mrs. S. E. Schnarr and Mrs. Chas. Peter of Quincy, Ill. After Mr. McCammon's death she was married to David Schenk, but to this union no children were born. He died a number of years ago. She came to Shelby county in 1883 and has resided here ever since. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and a good christian woman.
