Edna Sturgeon, formerly of Tampico, died at 4:55 a.m. today at Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown. Mrs. Sturgeon was a homemaker and one of the first women school bus drivers. She was a member of the Tampico Christian Church. Born April 24, 1909, she was the daughter of Melvin V. and Amelia Fern Godker Ballard. On January 17, 1929, she married Guy A. Sturgeon, and he died December 10, 1976. Survivors include two daughters, Eileen McCauley, San Benito, Texas; and another daughter of Peru; four sons, Gene Sturgeon, Greensburg; Don Sturgeon, Tampico; Roger Sturgeon, Seymour; and Roland Sturgeon, Salem; 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister. The Rev. Rudolph Hamblin will conduct services at Kovener and Sons Funeral Home Crothersville, with burial to follow in Crothersville Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Tampico Christian Church.
