Clayton E. Hieb, 84, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Madison, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Nathan Adelson Hospice Center in Las Vegas, Nev.

He was born Feb. 11, 1929, in North Dakota, the son of Ben and Myrtle Hieb. He served in the Navy from 1950 to 1960. He began working for the McDonald's Corporation in the early 1960s in parts of Illinois. He worked closely with founder Ray Kroc and other company officers during that time. He was the owner and operator of McDonald's restaurants in Madison and Scottsburg in the 1970s, until his retirement in 1995-1996. Following his retirement, he moved to Las Vegas, Nev.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Hieb of Las Vegas, Nev.; former wife, Mardell Hieb of Hanover; one son, Mark Hieb of Scottsburg; one daughter, Mary Chandler of Madison; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kelcy Whitman; and his parents.
