Mr. Goforth retired from Duke Power with over 34 years of service. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was a member of Linwood Presbyterian Church in Gastonia,
Survivors include his sons, Preston H. Goforth and Mark Douglas Goforth, daughter, Susan G. Denny and husband Lester L. Denny and two sisters.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Wearn Goforth, two brothers and four sisters.
Funeral:Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia with Reverend Lewis Gunn, Jr. officiating.
Interment will be private.
