Clara L. (Argus) McGadey, age 92,
longtime resident of Main Street, passed away at Seneca View Nursing Facility in Montour Falls on Wednesday, November 3, 2010.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am on Friday, November 5, 2010 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at by Fr. Bart Minson OFMCap at 11:00, prayers of committal will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery. Clara was born on March 23, 1918 in the Town of Ovid, a daughter of the late Arthur and Anna (Murphy) Argus. She was a graduate of the Ovid High School, and had a long career at Willard Psychiatric Center as a staff attendant. She had lived in her family home on Main Street in Ovid from the 1920's until her health necessitated long term care in 2005. Clara was a devout parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church. She was a wonderful homemaker and terrific cook, her Sunday dinners were a family event for many years.
She is survived by her children, Ronald (Norma) Argus of Orange, CT, Darcel (Larry) Wright of Burdett, Sheryl (Mark) Hildreth of Interlaken, Susan (Chet) Sandifur of Ovid; grandchildren, Denise, Lisa, Sheri, Chrissy, Kenny, Brandy, Shannon, Edward, Kori, and Kayla; numerous great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, her brother, Donald Argus of Florida.
