Dixi Henson was born August 27, 1935 in Swink, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of the late Lee and Thelma Herd. Dixi passed away peacefully at home with her husband of fifty-one years by her side on the evening of March 28, 2006. Her family and friends mourn her, but rejoice that she is with GOD. Dixi's signature color of peach and infectious smile always brightened our days and nights. She was sympathetic and always took the side of the underdog. She had a vast and varied knowledge and never missed a game of Jeopardy or a good game of Rook. Dixi never met a stranger and was a social butterfly. Joe and Dixi's "Jet Set" group were season ticket holders at Stars Dinner Theater and supportive of the Bakersfield Music Theater. Dixi always enjoyed lunch at the Garden Spot and going to the movies. Dixi was preceded in death by her son, Bryan Timothy Henson. She is survived by her devoted husband, Joe Henson; daughter, Amber and her husband, Doug Drasher and their children, Carson and Colton; son, Jeremy Henson with his children, Alison, Bryan, Caitlyn and their mother, Brooke Henson. Also, Dixi's brother, Jerry Herd and wife, Daisy of Sand Springs, OK, and Aunt Nancy and husband, Tom Gardner of Mena, Ark; and sister-in-law, Phyllis and husband, Choc Cawley of Bakersfield, CA; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. She had an unyielding FAITH in her GOD. She always listened to GOD and always followed GOD'S word. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Heart Association.
